The PDF guides cover all the basics. The newest features are summarised in the quickstart below.

Quickstart & newest features

Just want visuals to music, right now? Open the Player, tap Enter Visualizer, pick a genre from the bottom row. Music starts automatically and the visuals follow it. Tap Randomize any time you want a new scene, or Hide HUD for a clean screen.

🎬 Make a music video — no file needed. Tap Music video without loading a song and a picker opens: choose a genre, choose a built-in track, and type your name in Video by. FRAX3D renders the video with the artist and track credited on screen — and you credited as the video maker. Have your own music? Load the file first and the same button uses it instead.

🎵 React to Spotify or any other app. In the Player's audio settings, tap React to audio from another tab and pick the tab that's playing (Spotify, YouTube, anything) — the visuals sync to it. Connect Spotify additionally shows the current track's name and cover art in the corner (rolling out gradually — if the connection is refused, your account isn't enabled yet).

⛺ Take it off-grid. Tap Save all music for offline (in the Player's audio settings, on Wi-Fi) and the built-in tracks are stored on your device — music and visuals then work with no internet: festivals, camping, planes. Re-save after app updates.

⬇ Free MP3s & buying tracks. Every FRAX3D track is a free 192 kbps MP3 download on the Music page — free for listening and for your own FRAX3D videos. Buying the WAV pack gets you the lossless 24-bit + 16-bit studio masters plus the 320 kbps MP3.

🎚️ Speed, strobe and stillness. The Speed slider at 0 freezes the camera while the fractal keeps breathing with the music. S toggles the strobe. If a scene ever feels stuck, tap a genre button again or Randomize — the autopilot picks up from there.

Desktop app (Windows)

Run FRAX3D straight from your desktop, offline. The installer sets everything up in C:\FRAX3D and puts a FRAX3D shortcut with the F3D icon on your desktop — just double-click to launch in its own window. It works without internet after the first run. Mac/Linux users: download the ZIP instead and open frax3d.html in Chrome or Edge.

⬇ Windows installerFRAX3D_Setup.zip · unzip, run FRAX3D_Setup.exe · installs to C:\FRAX3D + desktop shortcut
Download
⬇ Portable ZIP (no warnings)Unzip & double-click Open-FRAX3D.cmd · not blocked by Smart App Control · Windows / Mac / Linux
Download ZIP

About the “unknown publisher” warning: this is an early-access build, and the installer isn’t yet code-signed (signing certificates are expensive for a small indie release — it’s coming). Windows SmartScreen will warn on first run: click More info → Run anyway. On Windows 11, if you have Smart App Control turned on it may block the installer entirely with no “run anyway” option — that feature only allows signed, reputation-verified apps, so until the build is signed you’d need to allow it, or simply use the Portable ZIP below instead (it needs no installer and isn’t affected). The installer contains no tracking, no background services and no network calls — it only copies the app files to C:\FRAX3D and creates shortcuts, and everything it installs is plain readable HTML.

Android app

Install the FRAX3D Player straight onto your phone or tablet — a real app icon, full-screen fractals, autopilot on and music playing from the moment it opens.

⬇ Android APK (Player)FRAX3D-Player.apk · tap to install · works offline after first load
Download APK
⬇ Or install from the browserOpen the Player in Chrome · tap Install app / Add to Home screen
Open Player

About the Play Protect warning: when you install an APK that isn’t from the Google Play Store yet, Android shows “App blocked to protect your device — Play Protect hasn’t seen an app from this developer before”. This is normal for any direct APK and doesn’t mean anything is wrong. Tap More details → Install anyway. FRAX3D has no tracking, no accounts and no background services — it’s just the visualizer. A Google Play listing is on the way, which will remove this notice.

Open the Visualizer, click Begin, pick a genre, and let autopilot run — or turn on Audio reactive to make it move with your music. To export a music video, open the Export tab, import your track, and choose your settings.
